In India, three-row SUVs and MP3Vs are very popular because of their larger seating capacities. Many three-row vehicles also include individual captain chairs, which are more comfortable and make third-row access a little bit easier, even though a bench seat for the second row helps fit as many passengers as possible.
Here are 10 SUVs and MPVs with second-row captain seats:
1. Maruti Suzuki XL6

Zeta onwards; Rs 11.70 lakh-14.87 lakh
The XL6 is the first MPV in the list, even though it is a member of Maruti Suzuki’s high-end Nexa lineup. All XL6 variants come equipped with second-row captain seats, and the only available powertrain options are a 1.5-liter mild-hybrid petrol engine that produces 103 horsepower and 137 Nm and is connected to either a 6-speed torque converter auto transmission or a 5-speed manual gearbox. A factory-fitted CNG kit is another option for buyers who want to achieve more fuel efficiency.
2. Kia Carens

Prestige (O) onwards; Rs 11.99 lakh- 19.49 lakh
Only the mid-range Prestige (O) model and the high-end Luxury Plus and X-Line trims of the Carens come with second-row captain seats. Only a 1.5-liter naturally aspirated petrol engine with 115 horsepower and 144 Nm is provided to Prestige (O) purchasers. It is fitted with a 6-speed manual gearbox. The 1.5-liter turbo-diesel engine with 116 horsepower and 250 Nm paired to a 6-speed manual gearbox and the 1.5-liter turbo-petrol engine with 160 horsepower and 253 Nm linked to a 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox are both available in the Luxury Plus version. The top-end AX7 and AX7 L models are the only options available to XUV700 purchasers who desire the second-row captain seatings. The XUV700 has two engine options: a 2.0-liter turbo-petrol unit that produces 200–380 Nm and a 2.2-liter turbo-diesel mill that produces 185 horsepower and up to 450 Nm. Even the top-spec ZX and ZX(O) trims come with motorized ottoman seats that provide “business class comfort levels,” according to our analysis of the Innova Hycross. The base Toyota SUV models have a 2.0-liter gasoline engine with 173 horsepower and 209 Nm that is exclusively linked to a CVT automatic gearbox.
