What's New on Hyundai Elite I20?

Introduction

  • The latest iteration of the new-gen i20 was launched in India in November 2020.
  • It is currently in its third generation and offered in a range of variants, colours, and powertrains to choose from.
  • In mid-2025, the model was launched with new variants, and this rejig also made the i20 the most affordable CVT hatchback in the country.

Exterior

  • The new-gen Hyundai i20's fascia is dominated by the large, blacked-out cascading grille.
  • It is flanked by LED projector headlamps and LED DRLs on either side.
  • On the lower side of the bumper are projector fog lamps housed in triangular-shaped surrounds and a black-skid plate.
  • Some highlights of the side profile include chrome door handles, chrome window lines, black A, B, C-pillars, and 16-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels.
  • The dual tone variants even come with a black roof and black ORVMs, which feature puddle lamps by default.
  • At the back, the i20 sports an integrated spoiler, shark-fin antenna, and Z-shaped LED taillights.
  • It even gets a chrome strip running between the taillamps, high mounted stop lamp, rear wiper and washer, rear bumper-mounted number plate recess, and a black skid plate.

Interior

  • Step inside the i20 and the premium hatchback greets you with an all-black theme.
  • It gets a four-spoke multi-function steering wheel borrowed from the Creta.
  • Then, there's a fully digital instrument cluster with a coloured MID showcasing a range of information.
  • But what also calls in for attention is the 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system that supports BlueLink connectivity, as well as Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
  • Positioned below that is a fully automatic climate control system and a wireless charging pad with cooling function.
  • Further to the left side of the i20’s dashboard is a glove box with a cooling function.
  • Notably, the AC vents get red inserts in the turbo variants.
  • A few other notable features include a sunroof, air purifier, and a sunglass holder.
  • Moreover, this being a premium hatchback, the second-row occupants get their own AC vents, armrest, adjustable headrests, and a USB charging port.
  • To break the black monotony, there's red stitching with the black leather upholstery.
  • On the safety front, the Hyundai i20 comes equipped with six airbags, ABS with EBD, ESC, VSM, rear parking sensors, and a tyre-pressure monitoring system.
  • Moreover, the hatchback boasts a seat-belt reminder system, speed alert system, and a rear parking camera.

Powertrain

  • Powertrains for the Hyundai i20 include both petrol and diesel engine options.
  • The 1.2-litre engine comes mated to either a five-speed manual gearbox or an IVT unit.
  • But then, the 1.0-litre turbo-petrol mill is mated to a six-speed iMT unit or a seven-speed DCT.
