The 2026 Honda Prelude, revealed as a concept at the Japan Mobility Show, marks the return of the iconic nameplate and a sporty two-door coupe to Honda’s lineup. The Prelude is expected to feature a hybrid powertrain, potentially combining a four-cylinder engine with electric motors and will compete with the Toyota GR 86 in size and performance.

The concept showcased a stunning exterior design with clean lines, angular headlights, and a futuristic rear end, hinting at the Prelude’s sporty nature and diving enjoyment focus.

What’s New?

Even though the name remains familiar, Prelude is the new lineup in Honda, replacing the discontinued coupe version of the Civic and Accord. It is expected to arrive in 2026, although the year is tentative.

Performance

The information about the Prelude so far is that it has a hybrid powertrain. Its a version of hybrid system of Honda models, including GR-V, Accord, and upcoming 2025 Civic Hybrid. As we know, the Accord produces 2024 horsepower from 2.0-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine, It is expected that Prelude will pack more power when compared to its performance aspiration. The front-wheel drive is likely to be standard but the all-wheel-drive option can’t be ruled out. However, manuals are not what is expected during this time.

Pricing

The 2026 Honda Perlude is expected to cost around $31,000 and can go upto $38,000 depending on trim and options. Although it’s just a guess, as its yet to hear the positioning soon. Most probably, it will compete with the affordable sport cars, including Toyota GR 86 and Mazda MX5 Mi.
