According to reports, the new M340i xDrive is the fastest ICE-powered vehicle and BMW to be manufactured in India.

The new BMW M340i xDrive, priced at Rs 74.90 lakh (ex-showroom), was introduced by BMW India. The BMW Group’s Chennai facility is producing the vehicle locally. Reservations are now available at BMW stores and online. With more than 1,000 sales to date, the M340i is reportedly India’s best-selling performance car.
Specifications:
The 2,998 cc straight-six petrol engine that powers the new BMW M340i xDrive produces 374 horsepower and 500 Nm of torque. With the M Sport exhaust, it can sprint from 0 to 100 kmph in under 4.4 seconds, making it the fastest ICE car made in India and the fastest BMW. An eight-speed Steptronic Sport automatic transmission is mated to the engine. It also has auto-start-stop and brake-energy regeneration.
Exterior:
- With its forceful, wide front profile, black mesh kidney grille, and sleek, blue-accented adaptive LED headlights, the BMW M340i xDrive has a dynamic, aggressive look. An impressive front fascia is created by adding a stylish black tint to the headlamps.
- When viewed from the side, its flowing roofline, minimal overhangs, and long wheelbase accentuate its sporty stance. The powerful design is finished with darker L-shaped LED taillights and high-gloss black M mirror caps. The vehicle also has trapezoidal tailpipe trims, air intake struts, and a body-colored M rear spoiler.
- Its road presence is further enhanced by the 19-inch Jet Black alloy wheels with red M Sport brake calipers. Comfort and sportiness are balanced by the Adaptive M suspension.
Interior:
- The car’s inside is opulent. For a floating sensation, the new digital BMW curved display has been smoothly incorporated into the cockpit. The BMW Live Cockpit Professional comes with a head-up display, a 12.3-inch instrument cluster, and a 14.9-inch freestanding display with navigation.
- Black leather sport seats with several adjustability options are available. It has paddle shifters and a newly designed steering wheel with a red center marking. There are six dimmable options for the ambient lighting, and the air vents are newly built.
- The spacious glass sunroof adds to the feeling of room, while the automated 3-zone air conditioner offers comfort. It has an automated boot lid, 40:20:40 split rear seats, and a 480-liter boot. The vehicle boasts a 16-speaker Harman Kardon surround sound system.
Safety Features:
- Six airbags, ABS with braking assist, cornering brake control (CBC), dynamic stability control (DSC) with dynamic traction control (DTC), electric parking brake with auto hold, side-impact protection, collision sensors, and attention aid are among the safety features.
- Additionally, it provides run-flat tires with an integrated emergency spare wheel, ISOFIX child seat attachments, an electronic vehicle immobilizer, and a tire pressure indicator.
- A parking assistant with a rearview camera that records the past 50 meters traveled and guides the vehicle out of tight situations is one of the sophisticated driver assistance features of the BMW M340i xDrive.
- Among the features offered by BMW ConnectedDrive is Digital Key Plus, which converts a smartphone into a car key and allows for remote car starting and locking. Real-time traffic information, emergency assistance, and remote services through the My BMW app are additional benefits.
