One of the most competitive markets in the whole Indian car industry is the mid-size SUV class. The most recent Hyundai Creta, which has recently surpassed one lakh reservations, is now ruling the sector. Despite Creta holding the top rank, competitors such as Grand Vitara and Kia Seltos are also achieving noteworthy sales figures.
There will soon be two more competitors from Tata Motors and Citroen joining the top performer. Now let’s have a look at the alternative SUVs to the Creta that Tata and Citroen are debuting this year.
1. Tata Curvv
The Tata Curvv, in near-production form, was last seen at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2024. It is expected to be on sale in the middle of 2024. The debut of the Curvv’s gasoline/diesel variant will occur after the all-electric model. The Curvv’s bodywork has a sloping roofline, sleek door handles, 18-inch alloy wheels, and a recognizable front fascia.
Tata Motors is keeping quiet on the inside design of the Tata Curvv, but we anticipate a familiar layout, similar to those of the brand’s upgraded SUVs, such as the Harrier, Safari, and Nexon. Among the features we anticipate seeing in the Curvv are the ventilated front seats, a free-standing 12.3-inch infotainment system, a four-spoke steering wheel with an illuminated Tata logo, and a 10.25-inch completely digital instrument panel.
It will be driven by both the new 1.2-liter tGDi petrol engine and the well-known 1.5-liter turbo diesel engine from the Nexon. The Curvv will compete in India against vehicles like the recently unveiled Citroen C3X, also known as the Basalt Vision.
2. Citroen Basalt Coupe-SUV (C3X)
Following the release of the C3 Aircross, Citroen is prepared to introduce a rival vehicle to the Hyundai Creta. The coupe-SUV was created especially for the markets in India and South Africa. The near-production version, known as the Citroen Basalt Vision Concept, was recently unveiled and was also seen testing in India without any camouflage. The Creta competitor coupe-SUV is expected to go on sale in the nation in the second half of 2024 and be known as the C3X.
Built on the same basis as the C3 Aircross, the 1.2-liter turbocharged petrol engine will produce 110 horsepower and 205 Nm of peak torque. An automated torque converter transmission will be available in addition to the 6-speed manual. In the local market, the Citroen Basalt coupe-SUV will compete against vehicles like the new Tata Curvv.
