Xiaomi made a bold entry into the electric car market with SU7, competing with the Tesla Model 3 and Porche Taycan.
Xiaomi announced its first EV in 2021, with an investment of USD 10 billion over the next decade. Talking about its exteriors, connected tail lights, teardrop-shaped LED headlight, and 20-inch alloy wheel, SU7 hold its uniqueness. Having a minimalistic appeal, it consists of 3-spoke steering wheel and digital screen. It also has features like 16.1-inch touchscreen, 56-inch heads-up display, and ADAS. With a battery pack of 73.6 kWh and 101 kWh, it has rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive options. The expected global launch will be in 2024 and will come to Indian market in the near future.
Whenever Xiaomi crosses our mind, the first thing that comes to mind is the smartphone products. Even though it has been a major master in electronic devices, Xiaomi is ready to bring out new product variants which are completely different from the mainstream, i.e. lifestyle and home appliances.
With the growing EV trend in 2021, Xiaomi announced its plan by trying their hands on the electric car space. An investment of USD 10 billion over the next 10 years has now resulted in the conceptualization of SU7-Xiaomi’s first electric car.
SU7 Designs
Xiaomi SU7 is the crossover of SUVs. The low-slung design is inspired by Hyundai Ioniq 6, Porche Taycan, and Tesla Model 3. Although the interior is not officially introduced, the possibilities are that it has 3-spoke steering wheel and two digital displays with no cluttered control panels. They might be in different themes, such as red, grey, white, and black. The dashboard has 16.1-inch free floating touchscreen, 25-speaker music system, and 56-inch heads-up display, Xiaomi has also made it connected car technology, a rear entertainment display, front and rear parking sensors, and Advanced Driver Assistance System.
Electric Powertrain Update
Xiaomi SU7 has two battery pack options, i.e. 73.6 kWh and 101 kWh ( SU7 Max). The SU7 has a 299PS single-motor setup with rear-wheel drive. The range figure is claimed to stand at 668 km and 800 km, respectively.
