Major automakers want to launch new electric cars; however, for the Indian market, Japanese companies like Maruti Suzuki and Toyota are concentrating on hybrid cars and EVs. They presently offer four hybrid vehicles, all equipped with Toyota engines. Nonetheless, MSIL has begun developing a reasonably priced series hybrid system for its entry-level vehicles.

Furthermore, by 2027, Hyundai intends to introduce a brand-new, seven-seater SUV with a hybrid drivetrain to the Indian market. We discuss the new hybrid vehicles that Maruti Suzuki and Toyota plan to introduce in India in 2025 in this news.

A brand-new three-row SUV that Maruti Suzuki and Toyota are developing will go on sale in the nation in 2025. While Toyota will present the 7-seater Urban Cruiser Hyryder, MSIL will debut the Grand Vitara in a 7-seat configuration. The current Global C platform, which will be greatly altered to make room for a larger SUV and a longer wheelbase, will serve as the foundation for both vehicles.

The new Suzuki Grand Vitara 7-seater SUV, codenamed Y17, is probably going to be released by the middle of 2025. There will be 6 and 7-seater SUV models available. When Maruti Suzuki opens its new Kharkhoda plant in Haryana in 2025, this car will be the first to be made there.

It is anticipated that Toyota will utilize the same production line to manufacture their 7-seat SUV. The 5-seater sister is most likely the source of the engine options for both versions. It may be available with a 1.5L Atkinson cycle strong hybrid powertrain or a 1.5L K15C petrol mild hybrid. In comparison to the 5-seater variants, the new 7-seater Maruti and Toyota SUVs probably come with additional features. The SUVs might come equipped with AWD and the advanced driver assistance system (ADAS).

Maruti Grand Vitara vs. Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder: Choose Your Hybrid:

1. Exterior

They are similar in terms of general driving characteristics, interior space, and size because they have the same architecture. They are both appropriate for both individuals and families because they provide a roomy and pleasant cabin. The Toyota Hyryder has a more sophisticated and attractive style, while the Maruti Grand Vitara tends toward a more rough and sporty appearance. The grille patterns, headlight styles, and general body styling all differ.

2. Equipment

Both the Apple CarPlay and Android Auto touchscreen infotainment systems and the two cars’ smartphone connectivity are common characteristics, as are safety features including ABS, EBD, Hill Descent Control, Emergency Brake Light Flash, and six airbags. A fully digital instrument panel, ventilated front seats, ambient lighting, puddle lights, a paddle shifter, leather-wrapped gear knob, and a head-up display are among the additional features.

3. Handle And Ride

The Global C platform is well-known for its stable and comfortable rides, excellent handling, and suitability for both city driving and highway cruising. However, there could be minor variations in the suspension or steering system adjustment, leading to marginally differing driving experiences. In this comparison, there is no doubt that the powerful hybrid varieties are superior. In addition to their remarkable fuel efficiency, they provide a pleasurable driving experience. Not only do the paddle shifters add to the fun of driving, but the hybrid electric motor’s boost increases it even further.

Interestingly, the 1.5-liter engine’s 114 horsepower may not be the highest in its class, but it nevertheless packs a punch right away. With a torque of 141 Nm, which is marginally more than that of its less powerful predecessor, the power is available immediately. The e-CVT unit is also easy to operate.

4. Fuel Efficiency

With an eCVT unit, the Toyota-derived powertrain can achieve up to 27.97 kilometers per liter in the powerful hybrid configuration. With this configuration, a maximum mileage of 1,200 km is stated. This makes it an eco-friendly alternative for car consumers as well as a long-term cost-effective one. Although the powerful hybrid version provides respectable power and torque, it is crucial to handle the throttle carefully for optimal fuel economy. The hybrid car’s ability to start in EV mode, which offers a quiet and tidy driving experience, is its strongest feature. Having a battery-only range of up to 25 kilometers, this powerful hybrid increases overall fuel efficiency.

The driving experience of the mild hybrid vehicle is not designed to be exceptionally powerful. Its power output is much less than that of the powerful hybrid, but this is because it is designed to be comfortable whether driving on a highway or in an urban area. In contrast to other fuel choices in the class, the mild hybrid is incredibly useful. Although the comfort of the ride is nice, the trip would be even more enjoyable with better tires. It looks imperative to upgrade to better tires because the current ones don’t provide enough cornering grip.

Conclusion

With a beginning price of Rs 12.81 lakh, the Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder is substantially less expensive than the Maruti Grand Vitara, which has a starting price of Rs 13.15 lakh (both ex-showroom). The top-of-the-line Toyota model costs just Rs 6,000 more than its Maruti counterpart. However, only the Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder comes with an extended guarantee of up to five years. The Hyryder might be a better option if you value a longer guarantee and a potent hybrid powertrain created by Toyota. It would make more sense for you, though, if you like the Maruti brand or are drawn to the Grand Vitara’s slightly sportier design.
